Perth 10 Days Itinerary

10 days itinerary in Perth (Total Expenses at the end of the post)

In June this year, K and I travelled to Perth and had a short roadtrip in Western Australia. Before this, I always thought that Perth is a boring city, besides koalas and kangaroos, there are nothing else special. I was completely wrong the moment I stepped into this country. The people there are so friendly with smiles on their faces and polite. Besides Perth, we planned a trip to Kalbarri. For more details on Kalbarri’s Nature Window, refer to this Kalbarri post.
Travel Period: June 3 – 12, 2017
Day 1
Arriving Perth. We landed in Perth at 3:15p.m. and bought OPTUS SIMCARD (AUD 20) before departing to the city via TransPerth (AUD 9.20). We had a quick lunch at Taka’s Kitchen and strolled around Perth city. We then checked in. It was winter season so the sun set at 5-ish and most of the shops were closed quite early.

Note: Download TransPerth apps to check transport schedule. Remember to register your TransPerth card online to secure the credits inside in case it is stolen/missing.

Day 2
The next morning, we checked out early and headed Hertz to pick up our rental car at Murray Street. Fyi, Hertz opens at 8 a.m. during weekends. After getting our Toyota Rav4, we grabbed our brekkie at Mary Bakery Café and headed North to Lancelin.
Note: Taking UBER to HERTZ was a wise choice as public transportation starts at 8 a.m during weekends.

We arrived at Lancelin Sand Dunes and spent more than hours here just to enjoy the beautiful sand dunes and have fun!
Next, we drove to Lobster Shack to enjoy our seafood feast. It was crowded with so many tourists there, I doubted there’s any locals. We ordered a bucket of prawns and lobster platter. The lobster flesh was so fresh I swore I could finish all myself.
We continued our journey to Nambung National Park for the spectacular pinnacles. Then, we set off to Geraldton for a sleepover.
Day 3
Early in the morning, we departed from Geraldton to Kalbarri. Before heading Kalbarri, we had McDonald’s takeaways (experiencing different McDonald in different country is a must! Of course, it’s the only one opened at this hour)

It took about 2 hours to reach Kalbarri National Park. We made an entry with a fee payment of AUD 12 using an envelope style with written details of our car.
Next, we headed to our main attraction point, Nature’s Window. It doesn’t require much climbing from the car park. By walking about 5 mins, we reached the point where you get to immerse the beauty by looking through the window.

It’s naturally created by the wind erosion and will disappear sometime in future.

After that, we continued our journey to Z Bend lookout. Again, the view point doesn’t need much climbing or hiking, by walking for 2 minutes, we reached the lookout point of Z Bend.

Followed by an hour ride from Kalbarri National Park, we stopped at The Gorges Cafe to have our lunch.
Along the ride from Kalbarri to Geraldton by the seacoast highway, we stopped at each attraction points such as Red Bluff Beach, Pot Alley, Island Rock, Castle Cove, Natural Bridge.

We made full use of our daylight moments and smashed our way to Port Gregory to indulge the beautiful Pink Lake which is known as Hutt Lagoon. At that moment, it turned into sunset and we headed back Geraldton to prepare for our next day adventure.

Before read on, check out my Kalbarri vlog.
Tips: Always check with National Park official website before heading here because it might closed for roadwork or other possible hazardous reasons.

Day 4
Made an early check out to Geraldton city for some sightseeing, we stopped at Pages Beach alongside with Point Moore Lighthouse. It’s great to enjoy the scenery with the sounds of the seagull and wave crushing the beach.
After a short stopover at Geraldton, we headed South again returning to Perth. We took the same route back from Geraldton to Lancelin then back to Perth city.

Then, we checked into another beautiful AirBnb in Bayswater area. This will be our stay for the next 5 days.

Day 5
On the first day in Perth, before returning our car at Hertz, we took a detour to Crawley Edge Boat Shed, the Blue Boat House. It’s quite calm and beautiful standing above the water next to Perth city highway. After returning the car, we took public transport from Perth city bus port to Caversham Wildlife Park.
To get to Caversham Wildlife Park, we referred to Transperth map for reference on which bus to ride on.

Tips: You need to inform the bus driver your location (Caversham Wildlife Park) for the drop off.
Cuddling Koalas and taking photos with them were the main purpose of us heading there. We couldn’t resist their cuteness at all. Not forgetting feeding the kangaroos too!

Despite the limitation of public transport, we grabbed UBER to the next destination of the day, Sandalford Wines. Spending half of the day there was the best choice we ever made.
Check out my video titled “Moments In Perth” which includes the aerial view of Sandalford Wines in the clip.
Day 6
Taking a day trip to Rottnest Island was an awesome idea given we always wanted a beach gateaway and meeting Quokkas.

There are two ferry services to Rottnest Island, Rottnest Express and Rottnest Fast Ferries which departs from Hilary’s Boat Harbour.

Take a look on Rottnest Island here.

Day 7
A trip to Fremantle, it took an hour ride using train service from Perth to Fremantle. First, we went to Fremantle Market. It’s recommended to visit there if you prefer to be less crowded.
Before that, feel free to check out my Fremantle vlog here.
Not forgetting a delightful breakfast break at Bread in Common, which is a very popular place for breakfast among locals.
Subsequently, we walked about 10 mins to enjoy our seafood platters at Kailis Fish’n Chips.

After that, we made our way to E Shed Market for souvenirs shopping. It has the cheapest souvenir gifts in Perth.
We then took Fremantle CAT bus to Chemical Warehouse for our supplement groceries.
Lastly, we ended our Fremantle trip with a relaxing beer tasting at Little Creatures Brewing.
Day 8
In order to experience and live like locals, we took this opportunity to visit Kyilla’s Community Farmers Market. It’s a very interesting market which only opens on weekends.
There were so many great food here...Choose from bratwurst, crumpets, crepes and potato cakes!
Cafe hopping is one of our favourite things to do. Little Bird Cafe has been chosen as one of the cafe stops.
When we wandered around Perth streets, we were amazed with their street arts. Get Perth street arts map here.
Further down the streets, we made it to Freddie Strudels which is famous for their durian strudels.
Visiting Elizabeth Quay is a must do during your visit, along with the modern architecture - The Bell Tower. Not only Elizabeth Quay, London Court is also one of the tourist attractions to visit.
I'm happy to report that my inner child is still ageless 👸🏻
Had our dinner - the tasty pumpkin pizza at The Voyage Cafe at Elizabeth Quay.
Day 9
Decided to revisit Fremantle Market given its magical atmospheres. We had another Fish’n Chips lunch stop at Sweet Lips. Besides that, we also grabbed the famous Honeycake from Fremantle Market to be brought back as souvenir.
Visiting the hidden beautiful Cottesloe Beach and watching the pinkish sunset from the Barchetta restaurant was simply amazing.

Day 10
Before ending our journey in Perth, we headed to King’s Park to enjoy its nature beauty with the stunning city view.
