High Tea in the Sky | Afternoon Tea with an Infant | Altitude Banyan Tree

To most people, babies and afternoon tea is not a winning combination. And if it does, it’s going to be stressful with screeching babies spoiling the atmosphere. Nevertheless, we decided to treat our senses to a lavish and overwhelming indulgence, at a highly regarded dining place, strategically located at 53rd floor Altitude Lounge in the luxury Banyan Tree Hotel and Residences.

Altitude is complementing an exquisite array of gastronomical wonders with spectacular views of Kuala Lumpur city skyline and the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. The moment I sink into the plush armchair, I was attracted to the classic yet elegant Italian tableware served on the marble table. From the teacups, saucers to the plates, it’s the style that dates back to the Renaissance.

Update:- Watch my afternoon tea vlog here

Afternoon tea in the splendour of the Altitude lounge.
I decided on an absolutely delicious Organic Rooibos as it has healthy properties yet contains no caffeine while hubby ordered Pomegranate Oolong.
We were welcomed with Garden Herb Garlic Tuile, Rosemary Coral Crisp and Lobster Cone. Definitely one of the finest that I’ve tasted!
The delicate and decadent savouries came next.
The Sea Wave - Sea Urchin Creme, Granny Smoth Apple, Shaved Bottarga
The Cracker - Crab Meat Grissini, Ginger & Lemongrass, Curry Cappucino
Left: The Classic - Roasted Beef Sandwich Horseradish Sauce
Centre: Foie Gras Delights - Pancake coated Foie Gras with Banyuls Shallot
Right: Land Meets Sea - Beetroot Macaron with House Cured Atlantic Salmon, Dill, Sour Creme

Indulge in three tiers of top- notch fare, including savouries and sweets whilst taking in uninterrupted views of Kuala Lumpur city skyline and the iconic Petronas Twin Towers from the 53rd floor venue. The highest tea in the city.
Doughnuts hung on an edible Banyan Tree root of Verona dark chocolate
When the scones were finished off we sat back taking in the view once more and chatted away enjoying our sugar rush. Heart-stopping goodness! A wholesome sumptuous afternoon feast indeed!
Still overwhelmed and mesmerised with the entire gastronomic experience, and of course not missing any chances to take photos of the stunning view and uniquely beautiful interiors.
Now let me share you the first afternoon tea experience we had with baby K.
Before hubby made a booking, he asked whether it's baby-friendly and they said it’s ok to bring along the baby. So, we decided to bring baby K to the highest tea in the city.

As the afternoon tea is located at Level 53, the moment the elevator accelerated, baby K started crying. Then I realised the screams stemmed from the fact that she can't neutralize her ears to the changes in air pressure. Gosh, this silly mummy had totally forgotten about this! Where is the pacifier?!

When the doors opened, we managed to calm her down. The doorman brought us to Altitude Lounge and the window seats were ready. As we have notified them we brought along an infant so the waitstaff had prepared another long armchair for the baby. I was surprised and impressed how accommodating they were!

As I’m a fully breastfed mum, I didn’t plan to bring along my chilled ebm as I thought they would have a nursing room. Unfortunately, as this hotel was only launched in July, they had not prepared a nursing room for bf mums, so the hotel staff prepared me a room at the spa centre so that I could breastfeed my baby. For this, I would say Banyan Tree Hotel is definitely providing gold-standard service!

Overall tea experience with baby K was pretty decent. She enjoyed sititing on daddy’s lap and being carried in mummy’s arms. She brightened everyone with her sweet smiles and the waitstaffs could not hold themselves and come over to keep her entertained. The elevator disaster was a mistake by me and I wished I could have done it better next time.
