Birthday Girl Celebration - Maison Francaise 2015

Every girl dreams of a romantic birthday celebration. I believe it’s my duty to fulfill my wife’s dream. This year, I decided to bring her to Maison Francaise located at Changkat Kia Peng.

Maison Francaise used to be a mansion and it is renovated to become the French restaurant back in 2011. They change their menu quite frequently, ensuring people to experience new savories on every occasional visit.

Full course menu is always the perfect way to enjoy fine dining. So, we ordered Gourmand set menu for both of us.

After a while, we are served with Chef Delight (Amuse bouche). This round, the Chef Delight is a small dish blended with Barramundi and beetroot with rocket as decoration. This is a new taste for me with the mixture of white meat and beetroot. Unfortunately, le wife found it too raw to eat!

Amuse Bouche
Next, we are served with the soups, Yellow Onion Soup and Lobster Bisque.

For the Yellow Onion Soup, it comes with Grilled Bread, Cheese and Seared Tofu.

Lobster Bisque
The yellow onion soup is the soup that my wife and I agreed on the fact that it is really tantalizing! The yellow onion soup is sweet and mixed well with the crispy grilled bread and onion together with cheese and tofu.

Lobster Bisque always has a strong kick of lobster paste which is the one that I am not used to it until now. However, for this lobster bisque, it is perfectly done with the flavor that is not too strong to consume. It is definitely a good choice for lobster lover.

After that, we were served with appetizers.
Foie gras, home smoked eel, green apple mille-feuille accompanied with beetroot jelly.
In short, the mixture is distinguishable and it is delightful when they blend together. It gives you the extraordinary balance of taste.

Saffron jelly with ink line, French sea bass ceviche, tiger milk
Meanwhile, le wife had this Saffron jelly with ink line, French sea bass ceviche, tiger milk. Yes, ceviche mostly served with tiger milk and it is considered a common combination but the overall presentation definitely leveled your height of taste as you enjoy your meal through your sight and sense.

After a while, the long awaited main course finally arrived.
Roasted duck breast, onions stewed fruit, raspberry gnocchi
For myself, duck breast was delivered in medium cooked state and it tasted great with the sauce given. However, I wasn’t much able to enjoy the sweet type gnocchi.

Grilled cod fish, sauted potatoes with dill, potatoes foam
And for le wife, Cod Fish was served with potatoes. It is really yummy! Baby told me that this was the best cod fish she ever had.

Coconuts and mango mousse, coconuts and praline crunchy, mango sorbet
Lastly, they made a surprise birthday decoration on top of Zoez’s dessert. That was a good effort from the restaurant.

Jivara mousse, raspberry heart, chrysanthemum jelly, mojito sphere and raspberry sorbet

After the meals, we were escorted to the balcony area to ignite the firework on top of the birthday cake I ordered from The Buttercake Factory. It is kinda fancy cake with the flower decoration, however, there were flaws from the cake because the person in charge failed to take the correct order. It would be perfect if they make a proper record on the details that I have requested.

The dinner didn't end well with my wife choice as she was unable to consume some of the food that were not fully cooked. However, most of the cuisines were specially crafted to the perfectness.

Even though there were some haywires in between, I managed to sort it out with the restaurant. I am impressed by their sincerity in handling this situation.

Overall, we gave our constructive feedback about the food and services and we were delighted that the feedback was taken well and the services were improved enormously in our next visit.
Last but not least, I am dedicating this post to my lovely wife as she is the only one I want to spend with for the whole entire life! Happy Birthday, baby!
